Special Features
- The Samsung Z Fold 7 is now thinner and lighter than ever. When closed, it measures just 8.9 mm and weighs only 215g.
- A larger display is 8 inches corner-to-corner when opened, and the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite chip is paired with up to 16GB of RAM.
- It now features the 200MP flagship camera from the S25 Ultra, improved usability when closed, and enhanced multitasking on Android 16 with One UI 8.
Last year’s Samsung Galaxy Fold 6 was a minimal upgrade. This year, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 bring meaningful hardware improvements. Samsung redesigned the hinge and chassis for a slimmer build. It now feels much more usable when closed, like a regular slab phone. Fold 7 balances both closed and open usability better than ever before.
It is a true flagship camera with thinner glass and optics to fit the Fold. The ultrawide (12MP) and telephoto (10MP, 3x) are still smaller than flagships but usable. Most photos come from the main sensor, so overall photo quality is great. The inside display features an improved 10MP selfie camera with a wider angle.
It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite for Galaxy chip. With 12GB RAM (16GB in the 1TB version), multitasking is smooth and powerful. All Galaxy AI tools are included and expected to improve over time. Samsung’s image editor with object removal is getting better than most competitors.
Four downgrades exist
- The first is the removal of S Pen support. The digitizer was removed, making the inner screen slightly thicker. Most people didn’t use the S Pen, so Samsung dropped it.
- The second downgrade: the base model price increased by $100 (now $1,999).
- The battery is still 4,400mAh – same as last year. That’s okay for Samsung standards, but it feels weak for a $2,000 phone.
- The phone rocks a lot on a table due to the camera bump.
